ITINERARY

Day 1 :

Manali
Welcome to your ‘Manali – Leh Bike Tour’! On arrival in Manali, proceed to the hotel on your own and check-in. The rest of the day is at leisure. Note: Bike Tour will start from Day 02 to Day 10. Overnight in Manali. (D)

Day 2 :

Manali,Sarchu
After breakfast, proceed for a day full of adventure. Start the day with Rohtang Pass (3978 meters). Pass through the Lahaul Valley, where there are mountains capped with snow all around. Enjoy some delicious steamed momos and thukpa. Thukpa is a very famous traditional Himalayan soup which is made by mixing meat and vegetables. Continue your drive and enterthe greater Himalayan landscape. While you are on this route, you will see that the mountains are bigger on this part of the highway. Enjoy the view and later, cross the Baralachha Pass (5000 meters). From there, head towards Sarchu which forms the border line between Kashmir and Himachal. on arrival check-in to your camp. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight in Sarchu. (B, D)

Day 3 :

Sarchu,Leh & Ladakh
Today after breakfast, proceed to Leh. After Sarchu, the state of Jammu and Kashmir starts and soon the Gata Loops happen – a succession of 21 hair pin bends lifting you 1,500 feet higher. And soon after, the Lachlung-La and Naki-la passes follow before one reaches Pang. The road after Pang rises onto the more plains, 42 kms of well tarred road, which is a welcome relief. Then, drive to Tanglang-La, the second highest motorable pass at 17,582 feet. This is also the last pass on Manali-Leh highway. After the Tanglang-La descent, small villages, green fields and “JULLEY!” – a greeting in the Ladakhi language will add life to the relative straight road to Leh. En route, visit Thiksey Monastery and Shey Monastery and Palace. Thiksey Monastery earns recognition as one of the most spectacular Buddhist shrines of Ladakh. The architecture of this monastery incorporates elements of Ladakh’s typical architectural style. It has a towering structure of 12 storeys, which consists of stupas, monastic residences, prayer halls and small shrines. Shey monastery and palace is located 15 kilometers from Leh town on the Leh – Manali road. Shey palace and the monastery were built in the sixteenth century AD. The monastery enshrines the Du Khang with an almost 10 meter high gilder copper statue of Lord Buddha. The Shey palace was built by the king Deledan Nagmyal and Shey palace boasts of the largest victory stupa in Leh and the top of which is made of pure gold. The Shey palace was the abode of the royal family till 1834 AD. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight in Leh. (B, D)

Day 4 :

Leh & Ladakh
After breakfast, drive to Shyam Valley, followed by a visit to local sightseeing of Leh. Alchi Monastery (70kms) is the most famous and oldest of all Gompas built in around 11th century by Lotsava Rinchen Zangpo (the great translator). Likir Monastery (55kms) founded in 1065 A.D by Lama Duwang Chosje belongs to Gelugpa. On the way visit Hall of Fame (war museum), Spituk Monastery (7kms) founded by Od-Lde in 11th century A.D and was named by Lotsava Rinchen Zangpo (the great translator), Pathar Sahib (Gurudwara), Magnetic Hill and Sangam (35kms) confluence of river Indus and Zangskar. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight in Leh. (B, D)

Day 5 :

Leh & Ladakh
After breakfast, enjoy your ride on an excursion to Khardungla pass-highest motorable road in the world. Situated at an elevation of 5602 meters (18379 ft) in the Ladakh region, Khardung la is the gateway to the Nubra valley, one of the most picturesque locales in Leh. This pass cuts through the mountain peak and so it offers amazing view of Leh and mountains surrounding the valley. The rest of the day is at leisure for relaxation. You can spend the evening at any of the garden restaurants which are popular in this place. Or you can explore Leh on foot and visit the Old Fort which looks over the city. Overnight in Leh. (B, D)

Day 6 :

Leh & Ladakh,Pangong
Today after breakfast, proceed to Pangong lake, (14,500 ft) through Changla Pass 17,350 ft, 3rd highest motorable road in the world. Enjoy the beauty of the lake on the Banks of Pangong while appreciating the changing colors and fascinating high altitude of the Lake. One of the high altitudes lakes of India at a staggering altitude of 4350 Meters or 14270 Feet. A beautiful lake with deep blue waters, surrounded by tall mountain peaks. This lake lies on the Indo – China boundary, with only one fourth of the lake being in India. One can visit Hemis monastery while going through this route. This route provides the best road conditions among all other routes. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight in Pangong. (B, D)

Day 7 :

Pangong,Leh & Ladakh
Today after breakfast, proceed to Leh. On arrival, check-in to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. You can opt for some shopping at bazaars and visit the Shanti Stupa which is a Buddhist white-dome huge structure which overlooks Changspa. Enjoy a great view of the Indus Valley and the Zanskar range and go closer to nature. Overnight in Leh. (B, D)

Day 8 :

Leh & Ladakh,Tsomoriri
Today after breakfast, proceed to Tso Moriri lake by passing Chumathang (Hot Spring) along the Indus River. Tso Moriri is one of the most beautiful, calm and sacred (for ladakhis) high altitude lakes in Changthang region of Ladakh in India. In fact, it is the largest high altitude lake in India that is entirely in Indian Territory. This beautiful blue pallet lake is about 7 kms wide at its broadest point and about 19 kms long. On arrival, check-in to your camp. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight in Tso Moriri. (B, D)

Day 9 :3

Tsomoriri,Sarchu
Today after breakfast, proceed to Sarchu, en route visit Puga (Natural Sulphur Mine) and Tso Kar lake – also known as ‘White Lake’ and one of the three high altitude salt water lakes in Ladakh. Tso-kar Lake is situated in Rupshu Valley, about 250 kms southeast from its principle town, Leh. Tso-kar Lake is located at an altitude of 4660m/15280ft in the Changthang region of South Eastern Ladakh and is at a distance of around 50 kms from the Tso-moriri Lake. The Tso-Lake is surrounded by the marshlands that host amazing bird life which include black-necked cranes, Brahmni ducks, bar-headed geese and the great crested grebe and Taklang La Pass 17,585ft, 2nd Highest motorable road in the world. On arrival, check-in to camp. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight in Sarchu. (B, D)

Day 10 :

Sarchu,Manali
Today after breakfast, proceed to Manali and drive through Sarchu plain and reach the Baralaccha plain till noon. Enjoy a smooth ride up the Lahaul ranges and reach Rohtang pass. Rohtang pass will come with a number of challenges with mini-rivers of mud. On arrival, check-in to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight in Manali. (B, D)

Day 11

Manali
Today, bid farewell to your ‘Manali – Leh Bike Tour’, as you proceed for your onward journey (on your own).
